Education

We are committed to safe and fun ways to educate consumers and the canna-curious . We don’t want to be just a pot shop or a Dispensary. We must always be more and strive for safe and effective knowledge. Providing the best Dispensary to Chestermere is our goal and we stop at no lengths to make that happen.

Cannabis/Marijuana/Weed/Pot

Let’s just call it Cannabis. The Cannabis plant is known by many names, Weed, Pot, Marijuana, Ganja, and many more. The Cannabis plant is split into three varieties Indica, Sativa, and Hybrid. Most cannabis strains are hybrids with either dominant Indica or dominant Sativa.

Strain/Cultivar

A strain is most often referred to as the specific genetic variation of the plant. It’s usually given a particular name like Blue Dream, Cali Haze, and many other varieties.

Hemp

Hemp, or industrial hemp, typically found in the northern hemisphere, is a variety of the Cannabis sativa plant species that is grown specifically for the industrial uses of its derived products. Hemp has no psychoactive effects.

Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC)

THC is one of 113 cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. It’s the principal psychoactive part of the plant. THC is found in the resin of the plant and is assumed to be a defence mechanism.

Cannabidiol (CBD)

Cannabidiol is a phytocannabinoid discovered in 1940. It is one of some 113 identified cannabinoids in cannabis plants, accounting for up to 40% of the plant’s extract. CBD is psychoactive but it is nonintoxicating.

Decarboxylation

Decarboxylation is a chemical reaction that removes a carboxyl group and releases carbon dioxide. Decarboxylation or Decarbing is a primary requirement in the activation of cannabis. Traditionally this would be done through combustion from a flame but can be accomplished at lower temperatures without degrading the product.

Terpenes

Terpenes are a large and diverse class of organic compounds, produced by a variety of plants, particularly conifers, and by some insects. They often have a strong odor and may protect the plants that produce them by deterring herbivores and by attracting predators and parasites of herbivores. Terpenes in cannabis can react with the body in several ways. It can also greatly change the smell and taste of the plant.

Indica

Cannabis Indica is derived from the cannabis plant growing in the Hindu Kush Region. It describes a very dense tightly packed plant covered in resin coated flowers.

Sativa

Cannabis sativa is an annual herbaceous flowering plant indigenous to eastern Asia but now of cosmopolitan distribution due to widespread cultivation
