Smoking CBD Flower and it’s Benefits

As a dispensary its really unfortunate that more people are not interested in supplementing cannabis use with CBD. Smoking CBD is a really great way for fast and efficient dosage. So we thought we would break it down really simple so the next time you hit a dispensary near you, you can check it out.

Cannabidol (CBD) is one of the many active compounds in cannabis and is non-psychoactive. This means that it will not give you the feeling of euphoria or “high”. CBD works with the endocannabinoid system, which has 2 types of receptors; CB1 receptors, which are responsible for the nervous system (apatite, coordination, pain) and CB2 receptors, which are responsible for peripheral nervous system (inflammation/pain). CBD is not a perfect match for the CB1 or CB2 receptors, but it does activate the receptors to allow for the benefits.

Why should you smoke CBD flower rather than a tincture or edible?

Tinctures and edibles are going to have to go through the process of passing through your liver or the mucus membrane, which is going to give it an onset time of 30 mins-2 hrs. The process of breaking the compounds down within the body can lower the potency, where with smoking none breaks down. Smoking allows for the effects to start right away because of its entry through the bloodstream. But it’s fast activation isn’t the only benefit to smoking CBD. this could also include:

  • Cost
    • The cost of CBD buds are going to be the most cost effective. Because the plant does not have to undergo the excess processing that a tincture would.
    • This means less packaging, processing and additives.
  • non – intoxicant
    • The fact that CBD is a nonintoxicant is another reason why people choose to smoke cbd. This will bring the desired effects without the intoxication of THC.
  • Potency
    • Smoking doesn’t allow for the plant to lose many of the desired compounds that would otherwise be destroyed if taken by tincture.
