Ryan is the co-owner of Lake City Cannabis with his wife Chelsea and is the often-recognized mustachioed face of Social Media. Ryan is passionate about weed on a nerd level. The smells, the growing, everything from the root up. He is committed to education and a better Cannabis industry, but also the community around him.

Ryan had previously run for Mayor of Chestermere, but soon found that he was able to make a greater impact on his community through his business by supporting initiatives such as the Chestermere Food Bank, the Library, and so much more. He strives to create the same communal ties here in Calgary with the opening of the newest Lake City in Mount Royal!

Favorite strain: His is Afghani, for its traditional roots, smells, and tastes. However he is always on the hunt for the next special thing.

Chelsea is a mom of two beautiful children ages 7 and 8 and co-owner of Lake City Cannabis. She’s been married to her husband Ryan for 11 years this August. Chelsea loves going for hikes with her kiddos and exploring our beautiful land here in Alberta. In the summer, she and the kids are complete beach bums spending all their time in the lake, water, and sand in Invermere, BC. 

She is a crazy animal lover. Chelsea has volunteered and fostered with rescues and thoroughly enjoys helping give an animal a new lease on life. If you have a picture of your fur baby, she will absolutely want to see those pictures.  

Chelsea loves spending time with my family. Family is everything in her life and feels that she and Ryan wouldn’t be where they are today without their strength and guidance. She feels so very blessed that they have such a close family that constantly cheer them on.  

Her relationship with cannabis started after her doctor had prescribed me heavy sleep medication for sleeping struggles. She says that she would wake up so groggy and the feeling made her very uncomfortable. She looked at other options and Cannabis was at the top. Chelsea went the medical route and went to a Canna Doctor who hooked her up with a LP (licensed producer). It was an amazing transformation for her! Years later, they read news release after news release of legalization. She and Ryan knew what this amazing plant did for them, it had become a passion. Ryan came from the IT world, and Chelsea came from the Corporate HR Engineering world. They decided to take the jump and dived in headfirst into opening their very own dispensary in Chestermere. Now the past is history, and here they are. 

Chelsea says that every day she wakes up blessed. Although being a business owner comes with its struggles and stresses, she’s also extremely blessed. LCC has an amazing team who are family. She says she feels that she has met the most amazing humans along her journey, and also loves meeting new faces every day!

                        Favorite Strain: Chelsea LOOVES Cherry Punch, specifically from Organnicraft

Meet Bear! Some of you may know him as the REAL superstar of our social media (sorry Ryan), but that’s not his only job here! He’s also head of security (because he’s an old grump), store supervisor from Monday to Friday, and the company mascot to boot. Without bear it’s safe to say that our daily operations would not run the same, and our Instagram wouldn’t be nearly as popular without him.

As Bear would say “Bork, Bork Bork” – we think that’s something nice… (at least we hope).

Did you know that Colten is Lake City’s FIRST employee? He’s been with us since officially opening (with cannabis on the shelves) in 2019 and is now our inventory lead! He is the man behind the scenes that assures that all of our counts are correct so that our customers have accurate menu’s, which makes it easier for our budtenders to provide you with the infamous Lake City Experience you receive when shopping with us. He’s also the one responsible for getting all of the cool & unique accessories for both of our locations.

When Colten isn’t hard at work he’s either playing with his dog Skye, enjoying all that cannabis has to offer, or both!                         Favorite Strain: Ghost Train Haze, always!

Aaron has been with Lake City for over a year now. He started out as just a budtender, but quickly worked his way up and is now the General Manager of our new location in Mount Royal! Aaron has an extensive history with martial arts including Jujitsu, Wrestling, Muay Thai, and Karate. His next adventure you ask? Bull riding!

Yes, you read that right! Aaron will be jumping on the back of a bull this September at the Chestermere County Fair in order to raise money for the Canadian Legacy Project.                         Favorite Strain: As a man of true taste and high standards, Aaron can’t say he has a favorite strain, but he will say that he enjoys purple punch mints.  

Jesse has been with Lake City for almost a year! If you’ve ever visited us in the evening at our Chestermere location it’s likely him that you’ll see. Jesse loves to play games, get high, and vibe out.

Favorite Strain: Gaelic Fire from Highland Grow, or any indica really.

Kat is one of our newer budtenders and is also heavily involved in the social media aspect of Lake City. Shortly after being approached by Ryan to help out with the company blog (yes, the one you’re reading right now! and yes, I did write this blog post), she was dubbed the title of “Blog Master” by GM Aaron. She works solely out of our Mount Royal location!

When Kat isn’t at work or blogging, she spends most of her time immersed in plants with her cat, Leo! No, not that kind… houseplants! Currently her jungle sits at around 50 plants (and counting). But like the rest of the crew cannabis is also a hobby of hers off the clock.                        

Favorite strain: Cake Crasher #2 from Joi

Madiy is another one of our newer budtenders at Lake City, but she isn’t new to the bud-tending game! She is all about good vibes and immersing herself in nature and the world around her. She’s the type of girl that when you go on a walk with her, she’ll definitely be bringing home some random rock or stick. Madiy also really enjoys the occult and all things that go along with it, like her crystals!

Favorite strain: Mango Taffie from Goodbuds

Sam is also a new budtender at Lake City. You’ll most likely find her at the Chestermere location. Her hobbies include photography, video games, scrapbooking, or playing with her dog!

She is also in school to be a paramedic. So, if you ever need one in the future, Sam may be the one coming to your rescue!

Favorite strain: Cold Creek Kush

Jake is another new budtender here and works at both of our locations! In his free time, he likes to hang out with friends, go hiking, play video games, or hang out with his dogs.

Favorite strain: Any wedding cake because of the strong, uplifting and relaxing effects, and purple frosty buds.

And this makes up our little Lake City Family! No matter which location you visit, you’ll surely be taken care of by some of the best people we know, who are also local to the Langdon/Chestermere/Calgary areas.
